2008 Hot Dip
Galvanizing Awards – recognising and promoting the
development, application and use of hot dip
galvanizing and related technology for corrosion
protection purposes.

Presented annually, these awards represent
the finest accomplishment in the use of hot
dip galvanizing. For each category award,
all project partners are considered winners
as the nature of hot dip galvanizing is a
combined effort, with the final project
reflecting the work of many.
The 2008 Hot Dip Galvanizing Awards were
given out during a sparkling gala dinner,
which was held on Friday 29 August 2008 in
The Ballroom at Monte Casino.

Clint Dias & Douglas McLean receive the WGS Barnett
Trophy from Bob Wilmot

Bob Wilmot & Douglas McLean of Maxem. Maxem
Engineering were the overall winner for the Raise
Tech W50 Drilling Rig.

Trevor Noah, Anna Loubser and Marcel Leroux of
Galvatech. The winners of the Duplex Category for
their role in the Dust Mitigation Project.

Roy & Yashoda Ramkisson of Phoenix Galvanizing
receive their award in the Architectural Category
from Trevor Noah.

The Steel Frame School Buildings in the Transkei
received the award in the Infrastructural
Development Category. Latha & Anni Ramkisson receive
their award from Trevor Noah.

Trevor Noah presents the Award for the Innovation
Category to Douglas McLean and Clint Dias of Maxem
Engineering.
Trevor Noah & Duncan Wallis of Armco Galvanizers.
The winner of the Mining and Industrial Category was
the Mafube Colliery.

Deon Alexander and Mickey Walsh of Cape Galvanising.
The Floating Jetties project received the award in
the Vintage Category.

Bob Wilmot & Desere Strydom of Phoenix Galvanizing.
A Special Commendation was awarded to the Project
Team for the Andries Botha Sculpture, affectionately
known as the Phoenix elephant!
Trevor Noah & Gareth Humphreys of Roymec (Pty) Ltd -
Project Manager of the Mafube Colliery Project.

Brendan De Kok receives the Special Commendation
awarded to Galvrite Galvanising for their
outstanding efforts made to improve customer service

Bob Wilmot & Denise Hewitt of Eskom. Denise was one
of three recipients to receive the Association’s
“Exceptional Performance on the Certified Inspectors
Course” for 2007 / 2008.

Natasha Esterhuizen of DSE receives her trophy
acknowledging her exceptional performance on the
Association's Inspectors Course.

Bob Wilmot presents the trophy for Exceptional
Performance on the HDGASA Certified Inspectors
Course to Jason Blaauw of Eskom. |
