Hot Dip Galvanizers Annual Golf Day

The Association held its annual Golf Day at the Glenvista Country Club on Thursday the 5th March 2009.  It was gratifying to the Association to have a record field of 116 players arrive to battle it out for the top prize! 

Having finally broken the “ping pong” effect of the trophy being passed between the usual players, the winners of the 2009 Association Golf Day, with a score of 57, were Steve, Grant, Kappie and Fernando who were hosted by O-line Support Systems. 

The Pink Lady, sponsored by Robor Galvanizers, had only 5 teams in the running at the end, with many players reporting that their pink ladies were lost on their first shot.  The organiser is yet to be convinced that this was not a deliberate act in order to concentrate on the Four Ball Alliance competition!  Well done to Gianni Arcidiacono, Willie Barnard, Werner Petrick and Ken Oosthuizen of Metsep for persevering. 

Second place was awarded to the team hosted by Armco Galvanizers, consisting of Johan van Wyk, Ralph Granig, Anton Olivier and Ivan Olivier, who achieved a score of 56.   

With a score of 52, Flip Roos, Francois Henning, Eugene Marais and Frits Terblanche, were awarded third place.  This team was hosted by Supergalv. 

Fourth place, based on a count out, went to the Robor team consisting of Shaun Diggeden, Nico Schoeman, John Tom and Benny Jiyane who scored 52. 

Nearest the Pin was awarded to Christoff Steenkamp and Benny Jiyane hit the Longest Drive. 

In proving that the last three holes of a round will automatically adjust your score to what it really should be, the Longest Day was awarded to Willie Loubscher, Alan Liebenberg, Richard de Sousa and Ferdie Kruger with a score of 27. 

Congratulations to O-line for somehow achieving both first and last place.
